- Estrechamente relacionados con los “espacios de fase” están los “espacios estatales”. Mientras que los espacios de fase se utilizan típicamente con sistemas continuos, descritos por ecuaciones diferenciales, los espacios de estado se utilizan con sistemas discretos de tiempo, descritos por ecuaciones de diferencia. Aquí el sistema natural se aproxima por saltos de un estado a otro, en lugar de por transiciones suaves. Si bien los dos tipos de espacios son similares, difieren en formas importantes.
