    Figura\(\PageIndex{1}\): El ciclo celular. Las células pasan la mayor parte de su tiempo en interfase. Si la celda se especializará para un trabajo en particular, ingresará G0. Si la célula se va a dividir, entra en G1 (hueco 1) durante el cual la célula replica orgánulos y contenidos citoplásmicos. Durante la fase S (síntesis), el ADN se replica. En G2, la celda comprueba que esté lista para dividirse. M es este diagrama representa la división celular. Aquí se muestra la mitosis, resultando en dos células hijas.
