Se incorporó a la Ohio State School of Communication en 2010, donde imparte clases de Redacción y Edición de Medios, Medios Deportivos, Redacción y Derecho y Ética de Medios. Como profesora asociada de comunicación clínica, su enfoque de investigación incluye el uso académico de la tecnología móvil entre estudiantes-atletas, el uso de la tecnología móvil en la educación periodística y el uso de la tecnología para mejorar la comunicación en el aula.
Nicole es directora de Sports & Society Initiative del estado de Ohio y presidenta del Consejo de Educación a Distancia, Bibliotecas y Tecnología de la Información del Estado de Ohio. Sigue siendo una escritora deportiva activa, cubriendo los Columbus Blue Jackets, el baloncesto del estado de Ohio y las carreras de caballos para Associated Press y The Columbus Dispatch.
Es autora del libro, “Siempre consigue el nombre del perro”, publicado por Routledge y disponible a través de Amazon.
Nicole obtuvo una licenciatura en ciencias políticas de la Universidad de Temple, una maestría en comunicación de la Universidad Estatal de Ohio y un doctorado en liderazgo educativo de la Universidad de Lamar.
Fue nombrada Educadora Distinguida de Apple en el 2015.
