Al seleccionar el comando Buscar en la pestaña Inicio, se abrirá el panel de navegación donde se puede introducir el texto de búsqueda. Las coincidencias se mostrarán en el panel y se resaltarán en el documento.
Del mismo modo, la función Buscar y reemplazar permite a los usuarios realizar ediciones masivas en un documento. Por ejemplo, es posible que un usuario desee sustituir las palabras profesor por formador en un documento largo. Con el comando Reemplazar que se encuentra en el grupo Edición de la pestaña Inicio, el usuario puede elegir buscar y revisar o reemplazar cada aparición de forma individual o reemplazar todas las apariciones en un solo paso.
Las funciones de búsqueda avanzada son similares a las opciones de búsqueda de búsqueda y reemplazo. Para que la búsqueda sea más específica, Word permite a los usuarios definir criterios, como buscar entre mayúsculas y minúsculas o buscar solo palabras completas. Estas opciones reducirán el alcance de los resultados devueltos. Por ejemplo, si se selecciona la casilla Hacer coincidir mayúsculas y minúsculas, no se encontrará el texto Marca si se introduce la marca denominativa como criterio de búsqueda. Por el contrario, el uso de caracteres comodín aumentará los resultados de la búsqueda. Un asterisco permitirá sustituir cualquier carácter. Por lo tanto, check* encontrará los cheques, marcados o comprobantes.
