¿Qué derechos tienen los niños en los centros de cuidado infantil? Algunos de los derechos de los niños son los siguientes:
- Los niños tienen derecho a que no los azoten, abofeteen ni hieran físicamente por ningún motivo. No se debe interrumpir el sueño de los niños y no se les debe impedir usar el baño. No se les puede negar comida a los niños con intención de disciplinarlos.
- Los niños tienen derecho a estar libres de maltrato psicológico, como, por ejemplo, coacción, intimidación, humillación, ridiculización o amenazas. Estos ejemplos de maltrato psicológico no están permitidos.
- No está permitido encerrar a los niños en una habitación o en un edificio. Sin embargo, las instalaciones pueden mantener las puertas y las ventanas exteriores cerradas con llave si cumplen con los códigos contra incendios locales para una casa familiar grande o un centro.
- No está permitido colocar o retener a los niños en ningún artefacto si no se está utilizando para su propósito original. Por ejemplo, las tronas solo se pueden utilizar durante las comidas. Las sillas para el auto se utilizan únicamente para el transporte.
- Nunca está permitido dejar a los niños solos en un auto, ni siquiera cuando se han quedado dormidos en el vehículo.
- Nunca se puede negar a los niños un medicamento recetado o, si se da la situación, primeros auxilios o atención médica.
