    Simplificación de expresiones trigonométricas

    Ahora que estás más familiarizado con las identidades trigonométricas, podemos utilizarlas para simplificar las expresiones. Recuerda, que puedes usar cualquiera de las siguientes identidades.

    Identidades recíprocas:\(\csc \theta =\dfrac{1}{\sin \theta}\),\(\sec \theta =\dfrac{1}{\cos \theta}\), y\(\cot \theta =\dfrac{1}{\tan \theta}\)

    Identidades tangentes y cotangentes:\(\tan \theta =\dfrac{\sin \theta}{\cos \theta}\) y\(\cot \theta =\dfrac{\cos \theta}{\sin \theta}\)

    Identidades pitagóricas:\(\sin^2 \theta +\cos ^2 \theta =1\),\(1+\tan^2 \theta =\sec^2 \theta\), y\(1+\cot^2 \theta =\csc^2 \theta\)

    Identidades de cofunción:\(\sin(\dfrac{\pi}{2}− \theta )=\cos \theta\),\(\cos(\dfrac{\pi}{2}− \theta )=\sin \theta\), y\(\tan(\dfrac{\pi}{2}− \theta )=\cot \theta\)

    Identidades de ángulo negativo:\(\sin(− \theta )=−sin \theta\)\(\cos(− \theta )=\cos \theta\), y\(\tan(− \theta )=−\tan \theta\)

    Simplifiquemos las siguientes expresiones.

    1. \(\dfrac{\sec x}{\sec x−1}\)

    Al simplificar las expresiones trigonométricas, un enfoque es cambiar todo en seno o coseno. Primero, podemos cambiar de secante a coseno usando la Identidad Recíproca.

    \(\dfrac{\sec x}{\sec x−1} \rightarrow \dfrac{\dfrac{1}{\cos x}}{\dfrac{1}{\cos x}−1}\)

    Ahora, combine el denominador en una fracción multiplicando 1 por\(\dfrac{\cos x}{\cos x}\).

    \(\dfrac{\dfrac{1}{\cos x}}{\dfrac{1}{\cos x}-1} \rightarrow \dfrac{\dfrac{1}{\cos x}}{\dfrac{1}{\cos x}-\dfrac{\cos x}{\cos x}} \rightarrow \dfrac{\dfrac{1}{\cos x}}{\dfrac{1-\cos x}{\cos x}}\)

    Cambie este problema en un problema de división y simplifique.

    1. \(\dfrac{\sin^4 x−\cos^4 x}{\sin^2 x−\cos ^2 x}\)

    Con este problema, necesitamos factorizar el numerador y denominador y ver si algo cancela. En este escenario se pueden utilizar las reglas de factorización de una cuadrática y las fórmulas cuadráticas especiales.

    En el último paso, simplificamos al lado izquierdo de la Identidad Pitagórica. Por lo tanto, esta expresión se simplifica a 1.

    1. \(\sec \theta \tan^2 \theta +\sec \theta\)

    Primero, saca el GCF.

    \(\sec \theta \tan^2 \theta + \sec \theta \rightarrow \sec \theta (\tan^2 \theta +1)\)

    Ahora,\(\tan^2 \theta +1=\sec^2 \theta\) desde las Identidades Pitágoras, así que simplifique aún más.

    \(\cos(\dfrac{\pi}{2}−x)\cot x\rightarrow \cancel{\sin x} \cdot \dfrac{\cos x}{\cancel{\sin x}}\rightarrow \cos x\)

    Solución

    Usa la Identidad Angular Negativa y la Identidad Tangente.

    \(\dfrac{\cot x \cos x}{\tan (-x) \sin \left(\dfrac{\pi}{2}-x\right)} \rightarrow \dfrac{\dfrac{\cos x}{\sin x} \cdot \cos x}{-\dfrac{\sin x}{\cancel{\cos x}} \cdot \cancel{\cos x}} \rightarrow \dfrac{\dfrac{\cos ^{2} x}{\sin x}}{-\sin x} \rightarrow \dfrac{\cos ^{2} x}{\sin x} \cdot-\dfrac{1}{\sin x} \rightarrow-\dfrac{\cos ^{2} x}{\sin ^{2} x} \rightarrow −\cot ^2 x\)
