Nuestros datos provienen de tres grupos de 10 personas cada uno, todos los cuales solicitaron una sola vacante: aquellos sin título universitario, aquellos con un título universitario que no está relacionado con la oferta laboral, y aquellos con un título universitario de un campo relevante. Queremos saber si podemos usar esta membresía grupal para dar cuenta de nuestra variabilidad observada y, al hacerlo, probar si hay diferencia entre nuestras tres medias grupales. Empezaremos, como siempre, con nuestras hipótesis.
Paso 1: Exponer las Hipótesis
Nuestras hipótesis se refieren a los medios de los grupos basados en el nivel educativo, por lo que:

Nuevamente, formulamos nuestra hipótesis nula en términos de lo que realmente estamos buscando, y utilizamos un número de parámetros de población igual a nuestro número de grupos. Nuestra hipótesis alternativa es siempre exactamente la misma.
Paso 2: Encuentra los Valores Críticos
Nuestro estadístico de prueba para ANOVA, como vimos anteriormente, es\(F\). Debido a que estamos usando un nuevo estadístico de prueba, obtendremos una nueva tabla: la tabla de\(F\) distribución, cuya parte superior se muestra en la Figura\(\PageIndex{1}\):
La\(F\) tabla solo muestra valores críticos para\(α\) = 0.05. Esto se debe a que otros niveles de significación son infrecuentes y por lo tanto no vale la pena utilizar el espacio para presentarlos. Ahora hay dos grados de libertad que debemos utilizar para encontrar nuestro valor crítico: Numerador y denominador. Estos corresponden al numerador y denominador de nuestro estadístico de prueba, que, si nos fijamos en la tabla ANOVA presentada anteriormente, son nuestras filas Entre Grupos y Dentro de Grupos, respectivamente. El\(df_B\) es el “Grados de Libertad: Numerador” porque es el valor de grados de libertad utilizado para calcular el Cuadrado Medio Entre, que a su vez fue el numerador de nuestra\(F\) estadística. De igual manera, el\(df_W\) es el “\(df\)denom”. (abreviatura de denominador) porque es el valor de grados de libertad utilizado para calcular el Cuadrado Medio Dentro, que era nuestro denominador para\(F\).
La fórmula para\(df_B\) es\(k – 1\), y recuerda que k es el número de grupos que estamos evaluando. En este ejemplo,\(k = 3\) así nuestro\(df_B\) = 2. Esto nos dice que usaremos la segunda columna, la etiquetada 2, para encontrar nuestro valor crítico. Para encontrar la fila adecuada, simplemente calculamos el\(df_W\), que era\(N – k\). El aviso original nos decía que tenemos “tres grupos de 10 personas cada uno”, por lo que nuestro tamaño total de muestra es de 30. Esto hace que nuestro valor para\(df_W\) = 27. Si seguimos la segunda columna hasta la fila para 27, nos encontramos con que nuestro valor crítico es 3.35. Utilizamos este valor crítico de la misma manera que lo hicimos antes: es nuestro criterio con el que compararemos nuestro estadístico de prueba obtenido para determinar la significancia estadística.
Paso 3: Calcular el estadístico de prueba
Ahora que tenemos nuestras hipótesis y el criterio que usaremos para probarlas, podemos calcular nuestra estadística de prueba. Para ello, rellenaremos la tabla ANOVA. Cuando lo hagamos, trabajaremos nuestro camino de izquierda a derecha, llenando cada celda para obtener nuestra respuesta final. Supondremos que se nos dan los\(SS\) valores como se muestra a continuación:

Estos pueden parecer números aleatorios, pero recuerda que se basan en las distancias entre los propios grupos y dentro de cada grupo. La figura\(\PageIndex{2}\) muestra la gráfica de los datos con las medias de grupo y la media grande incluidas. Si quisiéramos, podríamos usar esta información, combinada con nuestra información anterior de que cada grupo tiene 10 personas, para calcular la Suma de Cuadrados Entre Grupos a mano. No obstante, hacerlo llevaría algún tiempo, y sin los valores específicos de los puntos de datos, no podríamos calcular nuestra Suma de Cuadrados Dentro de Grupos, por lo que confiaremos en que estos valores son los correctos.
Nos dieron las sumas de los valores de cuadrados para nuestras dos primeras filas, por lo que podemos utilizarlas para calcular la Suma Total de Cuadrados.

También calculamos nuestros grados de libertad antes, para que podamos rellenar esos valores. Adicionalmente, sabemos que el total de grados de libertad es\(N – 1\), que es 29. Este valor de 29 es también la suma de los otros dos grados de libertad, por lo que todo echa un vistazo.

Paso 4: Tomar la Decisión
