Si bien no existe un sistema de lógica que pueda utilizarse en todos los argumentos deductivos para determinar con éxito si son válidos, el sistema de lógica de clases y su método de diagramas Venn-Euler se pueden utilizar con éxito en los argumentos que pueden interpretarse como sobre clases, como conjuntos o colecciones. La lógica de clases fue creada por Aristóteles en la antigua Grecia, pero desde entonces ha experimentado cierto desarrollo, aunque en este capítulo no se discute ese desarrollo.
