La historia de Washington incluye miles de años de historia nativa americana antes de que los europeos llegaran y comenzaran a establecer reclamos territoriales. La región formó parte del Territorio de Oregón de 1848 a 1853, después de lo cual se separó de Oregón y se estableció como Territorio de Washington tras los esfuerzos de la Convención de Monticello. En 1889, Washington se convirtió en el estado número 42 de Estados Unidos.
