    Como se mencionó anteriormente, es posible desglosar la programación informática en dos amplios campos: aplicaciones de escritorio y aplicaciones integradas. El mercado de aplicaciones integradas es ubicuo pero algo oculto para el usuario promedio. Una persona típica ni siquiera se da cuenta de que está ejecutando un programa integrado mientras usa su teléfono celular, reproductor de DVD o horno microondas. Ciertamente, los trappings de una computadora “normal” generalmente no existen en estas instancias; generalmente no hay monitor o teclado del que hablar. Desde la perspectiva de un programador, ¿en qué se diferencian los dos y en qué se ve afectado el desarrollo y las pruebas de programas?
