    El sumador completo forma la base de toda la aritmética en una CPU. Para ilustrar esto, se representa un sumador de 2 bits en Logisim en la Figura\(\PageIndex{1}\). Este sumador se implementa mediante el uso de dos instancias del sumador de 1 bit, y conectando la salida C desde el primer sumador a la entrada C del segundo sumador El sumador que se muestra a continuación está agregando X=11 2 (3 10) más Y = 01 2 (1 10), resultando en 100 2 (4 10), como se esperaba. Para crear un sumador de n bits (por ejemplo, un sumador de 32 bits utilizado en muchas CPU modernas), se pueden conectar 32 sumadores completos en una serie, con la C de cada bit conectada a la C in del siguiente bit.
