    En los últimos 100 años, las herramientas matemáticas empleadas por los físicos se han expandido considerablemente, desde el cálculo diferencial, el álgebra vectorial y la geometría, hasta álgebra lineal avanzada, tensores, espacio Hilbert, espinores, teoría de grupos y muchos otros. Estas sofisticadas herramientas proporcionan una poderosa maquinaria para describir el mundo físico, sin embargo, su interpretación física a menudo no es intuitiva. Estas notas del curso intentan aportar claridad conceptual y unidad a la aplicación e interpretación de estas herramientas matemáticas avanzadas. En particular, se hace énfasis en el papel unificador que juega la teoría de grupos en la física clásica, relativista y cuántica. El texto revisita muchos problemas elementales con un tratamiento avanzado para ayudar a desarrollar la intuición geométrica de la maquinaria algebraica que puede traspasar a problemas más avanzados.
