    El siglo XX en Inglaterra influyó fuertemente en la historia de la policía en Estados Unidos. La policía no solo cambió radicalmente por primera vez en más de seis siglos, sino que el padre de la policía moderna, Sir Robert Peel, montó el escenario para lo que hoy se conoce como policía moderna. Sir Robert Peel, el secretario del Interior británico, acuñó el término 'bobbies' como apodo para los policías y creía que era necesario reestructurar la policía. En 1829 aprobó la Ley de Policía Metropolitana, que creó la primera fuerza policial británica y lo que el siglo XXI sabe para la policía moderna de hoy en día. [1]
