¿Qué puedes inferir sobre su persona al leer el siguiente extracto de su capítulo titulado “How to Tame a Wild Tongue”, de su libro Borderlands/La Frontera: The New Mestiza, publicado en 1987.
Chicanos who grew up speaking Chicano Spanish have internalized the belief that we speak poor Spanish. It is illegitimate, a bastard language ... we use our language differences against each other... Repeated attacks on our native tongue diminish our sense of self. So, if you want to really hurt me, talk badly about my language. Ethnic identity is twin skin to linguistic identity—I am my language.” p. 38.

Paso 4: Ahora vamos a explorar la vida de otra chicana y hablante de herencia que, al igual que Gloria Anzaldúa, ya falleció, pero sigue viva a través de su música y del impacto que logró en diversas comunidades hispanohablantes: Selena Quintanilla. ¿Qué se les viene a la mente cuando escuchan el nombre o la música de Selena?
Lee la biografía de Selena Quintanilla. Mientras lees su biografía, escribe un breve resumen sobre la vida de Selena usando las siguientes preguntas como guía: ¿quién? ¿qué? ¿cuándo? ¿dónde? ¿por qué?
Instrucciones: Ve el siguiente video que es parte de la película titulada Selena (1997). Mientras ves el video, anota (1) Algo que te gustó de la escena, (2) un detalle importante de la escena y (3) una pregunta que tengas después de ver la escena. Estén listos para discutir sus preguntas en grupos pequeños y después como clase.
Paso 5: Ahora, compara y contrasta las experiencias de Gloria Anzaldúa, Selena Quintanilla y las tuyas relacionadas con la cultura y el lenguaje. Puedes usar el diagrama Venn como modelo o crear otro tipo de infografía.

B. Mira el ejemplo de la cronología del español de la profe Yaniz Rodríguez. Usando este ejemplo y la reflexión que acabas de escribir, dibuja la cronología de tu español. Usa creatividad y prepárate para presentarlo en clase.
