Biografía: Frances R. Aparicio is Professor Emerita at Northwestern University, where she directed the Latina and Latino Studies Program for eight years. She has published extensively on Salsa music, gender, and popular culture; on Latinx literature and poetry; and on teaching Spanish as a heritage language. In addition to Listening to Salsa (1998), she has published Negotiating Latinidad (2013) and co-edited anthologies, such as Tropicalizations. (1998) Her most recent book is Replaying Marc Anthony: Sonic, Political, and Cultural Resonances (Ohio State University Press, 2025). Her commitment to Latinx Studies is evinced in her helping to found the Latino Studies Journal in 2003 and the Latino Studies Association in 2014.
