En la sección anterior se utilizó una caja Edgeworth con un vector de precio para encontrar la solución de equilibrio inicial. En este capítulo, utilizamos la caja Edgeworth para mostrar la solución óptima. El vector precio se elimina porque los precios no juegan ningún papel en la determinación de la solución óptima. Al igual que con el equilibrio parcial, separamos lógicamente el equilibrio de la solución óptima. Si los dos están de acuerdo, entonces sabemos que tenemos un buen resultado.
