- Comprender los meristemos de crecimiento primario y secundario y los tejidos especializados que producen.
- Comprender la morfología de las flores y cómo se produce la reproducción sexual vía polinización.
Las plantas tienen células meristemáticas que no están diferenciadas, pero que están destinadas a dividirse y producir otras células que también pueden dividirse, alargarse y diferenciarse en células y tejidos especializados. Este proceso se llama crecimiento. Una estructura altamente especializada producida después de la transición de un meristema vegetativo a un meristema reproductivo se llama flor. Los órganos florales están dispuestos en círculos concéntricos o verticilos y son el sitio de reproducción sexual.
