- Proponemos desarrollar un formalismo unificado para tratar con el grupo Lorentz SO (3,1) y su subgrupo SO (3). Este programa se puede dividir en dos etapas. Primero, considerar una transformación de Lorentz como una rotación hiperbólica, y explotar las analogías entre las funciones trigonométricas circulares e hiperbólicas, y también de los exponenciales correspondientes. Esta idea simple se desarrolla en esta sección en términos de los subgrupos SO (2) y SO (1,1).
