    La oceanografía es la rama de las ciencias de la Tierra que estudia el océano y abarca una amplia gama de temas, incluyendo organismos marinos y dinámica de ecosistemas; corrientes oceánicas, olas y dinámica de fluidos geofísicos; tectónica de placas y la geología del fondo marino; y flujos de diversas sustancias químicas y físicas propiedades dentro del océano y a través de sus límites.
