- Las ecuaciones de difusión, las caminatas aleatorias y la ecuación de Langevin son útiles para describir el transporte impulsado por fuerzas térmicas aleatorias en condiciones de equilibrio o no lejos del equilibrio (el régimen de respuesta lineal).
- La dinámica de fluidos y la hidrodinámica se refieren a enfoques continuos que nos permiten describir las condiciones de no equilibrio para el transporte en fluidos. La hidrodinámica describe el flujo y transporte de objetos a través de un fluido que experimenta resistencia o fricción.
