No cabe duda de que el agua (\(\ell\)) ha sido omnipresente en el desarrollo de la termodinámica y, por supuesto, en la química de soluciones. Los laboratorios químicos de todo el mundo tienen este líquido 'en tapa'. Especulación sobre formas de vida inteligentes (cf. ¿estamos solos?) en el resto del universo [1] a menudo comienzan con comentarios sobre la presencia de agua (\(\ell\)) en planetas distantes.
