    Nota: mientras que popularmente se piensa que la división por cero es igual al infinito, esto no es técnicamente cierto. En algunas aplicaciones prácticas puede ser útil pensar que el resultado de tal fracción se acerca al infinito positivo a medida que un denominador positivo se acerca a cero (imagínese calcular la corriente I=E/R en un circuito con resistencia acercándose a cero-la corriente se acercaría al infinito), pero el fracción real de cualquier cosa dividida por cero no está definida en el alcance de números reales o complejos.
