Práctica de Vocabulario
Read the vocabulary words out loud. Then, answer the following questions.
1. Which words have you heard before?
2. Which are the three most useful new words?
3. Which are the three words that are the most fun to say?
4. Which word is the most difficult to pronounce?
5. Which word are you most likely to use?
6. Which word are you least likely to use?
7. Which words have written accent marks?
8. Which word with a written accent mark will be the easiest to remember? Why?
9. Which word with a written accent mark will be the most difficult to remember? Why?
10. Cognates look the same in two languages. For example, hospital is spelled the same in English and Spanish, but it is pronounced differently. Are there cognates in this list? If so, what are they?
11. A false friend is a word that looks the same in two languages, but does not have a similar meaning. For example, the Spanish word embarazada looks like the English word embarrassed, but it means pregnant. Embarrassed in Spanish is avergonzada. Are there false friends in this list? If so, what are they?
12. It is helpful to think of mnemonic devices to remember words. For example, to remember the verb llegar which means to arrive, you can remember “Yeah! They got here!” What mnemonic device can you think of for words in this list?

Working with the vocabulary.
Each person can work alone or in a group.

Each project should include, at least, ten of the vocabulary words from the list.
Pick one of the following four activities.

3. Create and present a drawing.
4. Write and read a short story or poem.
Before getting started, it is necessary to read the vocabulary list and to pick a variety of words.
This can be a very useful way to learn and practice new vocabulary words.
