    Este libro presenta al estudiante de enfermería de nivel de entrada el alcance de la práctica de enfermería, diversas técnicas de comunicación y el cuidado de diversos pacientes. El proceso de enfermería se utiliza como marco para brindar atención al paciente basado en los siguientes conceptos de enfermería: seguridad, oxigenación, comodidad, bienestar espiritual, duelo y pérdida, sueño y descanso, movilidad, nutrición, desequilibrio de líquidos y electrolitos, y eliminación. También se discute la atención a pacientes con trastornos integumentarios y alteraciones cognitivas o sensoriales. Se han incorporado actividades de aprendizaje en cada capítulo para alentar a los estudiantes a usar el pensamiento crítico mientras aplican contenido a situaciones de atención al paciente.
