    En última instancia, la psicología cognitiva es la investigación científica de la cognición humana, es decir, todas nuestras habilidades mentales: percibir, aprender, recordar, pensar, razonar y comprender. Está estrechamente relacionada con la ciencia cognitiva altamente interdisciplinaria e influenciada por la inteligencia artificial, la informática, la filosofía, la antropología, la lingüística, la biología, la física y la neurociencia. El término “cognición” deriva del vocablo latino “cognoscere” o “conocer”. Fundamentalmente, la psicología cognitiva estudia cómo las personas adquieren y aplican conocimientos o información.
