Comunidades bentónicas poco profundas
Las comunidades bentónicas costeras poco profundas incluyen:
• barras de arena en alta mar (en su mayoría habitadas por organismos de madrigueras)
• fondos rocosos (albergan muchos organismos adheridos)
• arrecifes coralinos (comunidades complejas y autoconstructivas).
Las comunidades bentónicas costeras poco profundas se describen como ecosistemas ricos debido a la diversidad y abundancia de organismos en algunos de estos entornos ambientales.
