Lanzan al baterista Hodge, para descansar
Uncoffined —tal como se encontró:
Su hito es un kopje-cresta [1]
Que rompe el veldt [2] alrededor;

El joven Hodge el baterista nunca supo —
Recién salido de su casa Wessex —
El significado del amplio Karoo [3],
El arbusto, la marga polvorienta,
Y por qué alboroto para ver todas las noches Estrellas
extrañas en medio de la oscuridad.

Sin embargo, porción de esa llanura desconocida
será Hodge para siempre;
Su pecho y cerebro hogareño del Norte
Crecen hasta llegar a algún árbol sureño,
Y constelaciones de ojos extraños reinan
sus estrellas eternamente.
