EN ESTE CAPÍTULO iniciamos el estudio del sistema de números reales. Los conceptos aquí discutidos serán utilizados a lo largo del libro.
- La SECCIÓN 1.1 trata de los axiomas que definen los números reales, las definiciones basadas en ellos y algunas propiedades básicas que se derivan de ellos.
- SECCIÓN 1.2 enfatiza el principio de inducción matemática.
- SECCIÓN 1.3 introduce ideas básicas de teoría de conjuntos en el contexto de conjuntos de números reales. En esta sección probamos dos teoremas fundamentales: los teoremas Heine—Borel y Bolzano—Weierstrass.
