El voto de aprobación puede violar muy fácilmente el Criterio de Mayoría.

Solución
Claramente A es el ganador mayoritario. Ahora supongamos que esta elección se llevó a cabo utilizando la Votación de Aprobación, y cada elector marcó la aprobación de sus dos mejores candidatos.
- A recibiría la aprobación de 80 electores
- B recibiría aprobación de 100 electores
- C recibiría la aprobación de 20 votantes
B sería el ganador. Algunos argumentan que la votación de aprobación tiende a votar la opción menos disgustada, en lugar del candidato más gustado.
Adicionalmente, la Votación de Aprobación es susceptible a un voto estratégico poco incero, en el que un elector no vota su verdadera preferencia para tratar de aumentar las posibilidades de que su elección gane. Por ejemplo, en el ejemplo de película anterior, supongamos que Bob y Alice preferirían ver Scream. Eliminan The Matrix de su lista de aprobación, resultando en un resultado diferente.

Al sumar los resultados, encontramos que Titanic recibió 5 aprobaciones, Scream recibió 6 aprobaciones y The Matrix recibió 5 aprobaciones. Al votar de manera insincerosa, Bob y Alice pudieron amalgar el resultado a favor de su preferencia.
