- Definir presión parcial usando ecuaciones matemáticas
¿Y si tenemos una mezcla de diferentes gases? Tal vez queramos saber cuánto hay de cada uno. Podemos definir la fracción molar de un gas particular A como el número de moles de A dividido por el número total de moles de gas:
\[x_{A} = \frac{n_{A}}{n_{total}}\]
Entonces podemos definir la presión parcial de A como
\[p_{A} = x_{A}P\]
Esto funciona para gases reales o ideales. A menudo se utilizan presiones parciales para describir concentraciones de gases. Si el gas es ideal, entonces la presión parcial es la misma presión que haría el gas si todos los demás componentes de la mezcla no estuvieran ahí, porque
\[p_{A} = \frac{n_{A}RT}{V}\]
En un gas real, esto podría no ser cierto porque los diferentes gases podrían interactuar un poco diferente.
