Apariencia:
Hemoflagelados que a menudo se visualizan con tinción de Giemsa durante el cribado de frotis finos y gruesos, aunque son visibles mediante procedimientos regulares de tinción Romanowsky. 1
Los tripomastigotos aparecen en forma de C o U en la sangre periférica, generalmente vistos extracelulares a los glóbulos rojos. 2
Organismos:
El insecto Reduviid (“bicho besador”) lleva Trypanosoma cruzi en su intestino donde madura. Durante una comida de sangre, el insecto Reduviid libera T.cruzi a través de las heces hacia los sitios de alimentación o membranas mucosas donde puede causar infección en el torrente sanguíneo. 2
El Trypanosoma cruzi es el agente causante de la Enfermedad de Chagas. 2
