Entre todos los fundamentos para la presencia humana, la necesidad de interactuar con los demás se ubica por debajo de nuestra necesidad de mantener la vida. La comunicación es casi tan imperativa para nosotros como nuestra dependencia del aire, el agua, la alimentación y el refugio.
Hoy en día, los sistemas de redes han permitido a las personas conectarse desde cualquier lugar. Los individuos pueden comunicarse y colaborar inmediatamente con otros. Las ideas y descubrimientos noticiosos se comparten con el mundo en segundos. De hecho, la gente puede interactuar y jugar con otros sin las barreras físicas de los mares y las masas terrestres desde donde quiera que se encuentren.
Tecnología entonces y ahora
Imagine un mundo sin Internet. No más Google, YouTube, mensajes de texto, Facebook, Wikipedia, juegos basados en la web, Netflix, iTunes y acceso simple a los datos actuales. No más redes sociales, mantenerse alejado de las líneas comprando en la web, o buscando rápidamente números de teléfono y encabezados de guía a diferentes áreas en un abrir y cerrar de ojos. ¿Qué tan únicas serían nuestras vidas sin la totalidad de esto? Ese era el mundo en el que vivíamos hace apenas 15 a 20 años, como se discute en el Capítulo 1. A lo largo de los años, los sistemas de información se han extendido gradualmente y se han reutilizado para mejorar la satisfacción personal de las personas en todo el lugar.
Sin límites
Las progresiones en los avances en la administración de sistemas son quizás los cambios más notables en el planeta hoy en día. Ayudan a hacer un mundo donde las franjas nacionales, las separaciones geográficas y los confinamientos físicos se vuelven menos importantes, introduciendo obstáculos cada vez menores.
Cisco Systems Inc. alude a esto como la red humana. La red humana se fija en el efecto de Internet y las redes en individuos y organizaciones.
