    El mundo de la electrónica estuvo dominado inicialmente por señales analógicas, es decir, señales que representan un rango continuo de valores. En los circuitos digitales, sin embargo, solo hay dos estados: encendido y apagado, también denominados 1 y 0, respectivamente. La información digital tiene sus raíces en la época victoriana gracias a George Boole, quien desarrolló la idea del álgebra booleana.

    Cada aspecto de nuestras vidas se está integrando y conectando cada vez más por el Internet de las Cosas (IoT), que consiste en computadoras y sistemas embebidos. Estos dispositivos son controlados por software que en su núcleo es la lógica booleana junto con la información digital. El mundo que nos rodea es analógico, pero con cada día que pasa nuestra interacción con el mundo es cada vez más digital y más integrada.
