    Una relación es una comparación de dos cantidades numéricas en las mismas unidades que generalmente se expresa como una fracción.

    Ejemplos:

    1. La relación de 2 metros a 7 metros es\(\frac{2m}{7m}=\frac{2}{7}\).
    2. Hay 200,000 galones de agua en una cuenca rectangular y 400,000 galones de agua en una cuenca cilíndrica.
      1. ¿Cuál es la relación entre el número de galones de agua en la cuenca rectangular y la cuenca cilíndrica? \[\frac{200,000\,\, gallons}{400,000\,\, gallons}=\frac{2}{4}=\frac{1}{2}\nonumber \]
      2. ¿Cuál es la relación entre el número de galones de agua en la cuenca cilíndrica y la cuenca rectangular? \[\frac{400,000\,\, gallons}{200,000\,\, gallons}=\frac{4}{2}=\frac{2}{1}=2\nonumber \]
    3. El precio de (algunos químicos) aumentó recientemente de $10.80/caja a $13.50/caja. Encuentra la relación entre el incremento de precio y el precio original.

    El incremento en el precio se determina restando el precio original del precio final:incremento en el precio = $13.50-$10.80 = $2.70.
