    Las interacciones tróficas ocurren cuando un organismo se alimenta de otro. Los tres tipos principales de interacciones tróficas son depredación (figura\(\PageIndex{a}\)), herbivoría o parasitismo. Durante estas interacciones, una especie se beneficia al obtener alimento a expensas de la otra, que o bien muere o pierde nutrientes, tejidos u órganos (como las hojas). Las interacciones tróficas implican el flujo de energía, y las interacciones tróficas en una comunidad pueden ser representadas por cadenas alimentarias y redes alimentarias.
