Cuando dos ondas del mismo tipo se juntan suele darse el caso que sus amplitudes se suman. Por lo que dos ondas de agua superpuestas tienen una amplitud que es el doble de alta que la amplitud de las olas individuales. Esto se llama interferencia constructiva y puede ocurrir tanto para ondas sinusoidales como para pulsos.
