Lyle Johnson, el dueño de Hoff's Store, pintó este letrero alrededor de 1970. Junto con tres carteles coincidentes, colgó en el frente de su negocio en 101 East Main Street desde la década de 1960 hasta aproximadamente 1985 cuando el edificio fue remodelado. Esto coincide con el período de tiempo en que los negocios de Mount Horeb comenzaron a promocionar un tema noruego en su decoración al aire libre. Similar al cofre de Ruste presentado anteriormente, el letrero en forma de escudo de Hoff está inspirado en el escudo de armas noruego y es un motivo popular utilizado en el arte tradicional noruego. El motivo del escudo de armas se puede encontrar hoy en el monte Horeb, como en el costado del edificio Mount Horeb Telephone Company en las calles Main y Second.
