Muchas ecuaciones termodinámicas importantes están estrechamente relacionadas. Estas relaciones suelen ser resaltadas por la técnica matemática, Legendre Transformations [1,2]. Con referencia a la termodinámica, Callen [3] discute la aplicación de Legendre Transformations. Las características esenciales de Legendre Transformations se pueden entender en los siguientes términos.
Una variable primaria\(\mathrm{Q}\) se define por dos variables dependientes\(x\) y\(y\). Por lo tanto
\[Q=Q[x, y]\]
Entonces
\[\mathrm{dQ}=\left(\frac{\partial \mathrm{Q}}{\partial \mathrm{x}}\right)_{\mathrm{y}} \, \mathrm{dx}+\left(\frac{\partial \mathrm{Q}}{\partial \mathrm{y}}\right)_{\mathrm{x}} \, \mathrm{dy}\]
Por definición,

Por definición, entalpía\(\mathrm{H}=\mathrm{U}+\mathrm{p} \, \mathrm{V}\);
\[\mathrm{dH}=-\mathrm{dU}+\mathrm{p} \, \mathrm{dV}+\mathrm{V} \, \mathrm{dp}\]

La transformación es-\(\mathrm{U}[\mathrm{S}, \mathrm{V}, \xi] \rightarrow \mathrm{H}[\mathrm{S}, \mathrm{p}, \xi]\) Por definición, la energía Gibbs
\[\mathrm{G}=\mathrm{U}+\mathrm{p} \, \mathrm{V}-\mathrm{T} \, \mathrm{S}\]
O usando la ecuación (k),

La transformación es\(\mathrm{H}[\mathrm{S}, \mathrm{p}, \xi] \rightarrow \mathrm{G}[\mathrm{T}, \mathrm{p}, \xi]\) similar, las transformaciones de\(\mathrm{U}[\mathrm{S}, \mathrm{V}, \xi] \rightarrow \mathrm{F}[\mathrm{T}, \mathrm{V}, \xi]\) Ledgendre pueden examinarse en el amplio contexto de la química y la bioquímica [5]. Su importancia radica en establecer la estructura matemática general de la termodinámica [6].
