Catalizadores de polimerización Ziegler Natta
La inserción de alquilos de aluminio en olefinas fue estudiada por Ziegler. Durante la investigación sistemática de la polimerización de olefinas, Ziegler se dio cuenta de que el catalizador más efectivo es la combinación de TiCl 4/AlEt 3 que puede polimerizar etileno a una presión tan baja como 1 bar. La aplicación del método Ziegler a la polimerización del propileno y su establecimiento y la investigación de propiedades a granel fue realizada por Natta y de ahí que la metodología se denomina proceso Ziegler-Natta.
Descubrimiento importante: R 3 Al + ácidos de Lewis.
En ausencia de mecanismo de reacción con prueba sólida, se presume que la reacción se debe a la catálisis heterogénea en la que se considera que el TiCl 3 fibroso, alquilado en su superficie, es la especie catalítica activa.
