Los sistemas de información han cambiado la forma en que trabajamos, jugamos y aprendemos desde que se introdujo Internet a la masa. Podemos estar en un punto de inflexión ahora con muchos avances significativos de tecnologías que han estado en investigación durante muchas décadas y convergen aproximadamente al mismo tiempo que se describe en las tendencias anteriores.
La adopción de muchas tecnologías también se ha acelerado debido a la Pandemia Covid-19 2020. Las organizaciones deberán determinar cómo quieren avanzar para aprovechar las oportunidades y gestionar los riesgos en caso de que alguna de las tendencias anteriores se convierta en realidad.
A medida que avance el mundo de la tecnología de la información, estaremos constantemente desafiados por nuevas capacidades e innovaciones que nos sorprenderán y disgustarán. Como aprendimos en el capítulo 12, muchas veces, las nuevas capacidades y poderes que vienen con estas nuevas tecnologías nos pondrán a prueba y requerirán una nueva forma de pensar sobre el mundo. Tanto las empresas como los individuos deben estar al tanto de estos cambios venideros y prepararse para ellos.
