    La botánica es el estudio de las plantas y muchos de los otros grupos no animales en el árbol de la vida. Con respecto a los organismos, este curso comienza con las Cyanobacteria, serpentea a través de varios grupos de organismos no relacionados que alguna vez fueron categorizados como hongos, arranca pedazos del “protista” y finalmente emerge en Kingdom Plantae. Con respecto a las disciplinas científicas, comenzamos con la ecología, la transición a un poco de química y biología celular, ensamblamos estos bloques de construcción para aprender anatomía y fisiología, usar estas características para discutir la evolución y la sistemática, clasificar nuestros organismos en grupos relacionados basados en la biología del organismo, luego descubren su interrelación volviendo a la ecología, todo ello con una pizca de geografía física para darnos un contexto histórico.
