El cuadrado espacial de fase de cuerpos que caen tiene una lección más para nosotros: visualizar ahora un gas uniformemente denso de puntos dentro del cuadrado inicial. No solo el gas permanece dentro del cuadrado distorsionante, el área que cubre en el espacio de fase permanece constante, como se discutió anteriormente, por lo que la densidad local del gas permanece constante a medida que el gas fluye a través del espacio de fase.
El teorema de Liouville es que esta constancia de densidad local es cierta para los sistemas dinámicos generales.
