La función exponencial\(\exp (x) = e^x\) y el logaritmo natural\(\ln x\) son funciones inversas satisfactorias\[e^{\ln x}=x,\quad\ln e^x=x.\nonumber\]
Se aplican las reglas habituales de los exponentes:
\[e^xe^y=e^{x+y},\quad e^x/e^y=e^{x-y},\quad (e^x)^p=e^{px}.\nonumber\]
Las reglas correspondientes para la función logarítmica son\[\ln(xy)=\ln x+\ln y,\quad \ln (x/y)=\ln x-\ln y,\quad \ln x^p=p\ln x.\nonumber\]
