Cada disciplina tiene su propio vocabulario y tu éxito en el estudio de química ana- lítica mejorará si dominas este vocabulario. Asegúrese de comprender la diferencia entre un analito y su matriz, entre una técnica y un método, entre un procedimiento y un protocolo, y entre una técnica de análisis total y una técnica de concentración.
Al seleccionar un método analítico consideramos criterios como la precisión, la precisión, la sensibilidad, la selectividad, la robustez, la robustez, la cantidad de muestra disponible, la cantidad de analito en la muestra, el tiempo, el costo y la disponibilidad de equipos. Estos criterios no son mutuamente independientes, y muchas veces es necesario encontrar un equilibrio aceptable entre ellos.
Al desarrollar un procedimiento o protocolo, consideramos compensar las interferencias, calibrar el método, obtener una muestra adecuada y validar el análisis. Los procedimientos y protocolos mal diseñados producen resultados que son insuficientes para satisfacer las necesidades del análisis.
