Una solución dada (a fijo\(\mathrm{T}\) y\(\mathrm{p}\)) se prepara usando\(1 \mathrm{~kg}\) agua solvente y\(\mathrm{m}_{j}\) moles de soluto\(j\). La compresión de esta solución\(\mathrm{K}_{\mathrm{T}}\left(\mathrm{aq} ; \mathrm{w}_{1}=1 \mathrm{~kg}\right)\) viene dada por las ecuaciones (a) y (b).

En 1933, Gucker revisó la determinación directa de compresibilidades de soluciones que conducen a compresiones molares aparentes de solutos en solución acuosa calculadas usando la ecuación (k) [4-6].

Las compresibilidades de las soluciones se determinaron directamente midiendo la sensibilidad de\(\mathrm{V}(\mathrm{aq})\) a un aumento en la presión. Gucker demostró que para soluciones salinas acuosas,\(\phi\left(\mathrm{K}_{\mathrm{T}_{\mathrm{j}}}\right)\) es negativo y una función lineal de\(\left(\mathrm{c}_{\mathrm{j}}\right)^{1 / 2}\). Además, el valor limitante,\(\phi\left(\mathrm{K}_{\mathrm{T}_{\mathrm{j}}}\right)^{\infty}\) es una propiedad aditiva de\(\phi\left(\mathrm{K}_{\mathrm{T}}-1 \mathrm{ion}\right)^{\infty}\)
Una aproximación útil es que para soluciones diluidas a constante\(\mathrm{T}\) y\(\mathrm{p}\) que contienen un soluto neutro\(j\),\(\phi\left(\mathrm{K}_{\mathrm{T}_{\mathrm{j}}}\right)\) es función lineal de la molaridad\(\mathrm{m}_{j}\).
