La quimioselectividad, regioselectividad y estereoselectividad son características definitorias de las reacciones radicales. En ninguna parte son más importantes (particularmente los dos últimos) que cuando se está formando un nuevo anillo. Comprensiblemente entonces, cuando la regioselectividad y la estereoselectividad se abordaron en los capítulos 10 y 11, la discusión a menudo se centró en reacciones de ciclación.
