No se puede exagerar la importancia de las relaciones entre invarianza y simetría. Se extiende más allá de la mecánica clásica hasta la física cuántica y la teoría de campo Para un sistema cerrado tridimensional, hay tres constantes posibles para el momento lineal, tres para el momento angular y una para la energía. Es especialmente interesante en que estas, y solo estas, siete integrales tienen la propiedad de que son aditivas para las partículas que comprenden un sistema, y esto ocurre independientemente de si existe una interacción entre las partículas. Es decir, este comportamiento es obedecido por todo el ensamble de partículas para sistemas finitos. Debido a su profunda importancia para la física, estas relaciones entre simetría e invarianza se utilizan ampliamente.
