    La intención de este REA es doble: ofrecer un texto de calidad gratuito o de bajo costo a nuestros estudiantes en un curso de alfabetización informacional de una unidad y ofrecer un punto de partida a cualquier persona que desee desarrollar su propia clase u REA. Es intencional que este texto no sea específico de San Diego City College porque las habilidades que enseñamos en nuestro LIBS 101, y se reflejan en este REA, son habilidades transferibles. Esto permite a los estudiantes tomar lo que aprenden aquí y aplicarlo a cualquier necesidad de información en cualquier entorno: academia, carreras, aprendizaje de por vida, apuestas de bar, o lo que tienes. No se trata de un intento de ser un libro integral sobre alfabetización informacional, sino más bien un breve panorama en apoyo de esta clase de una sola unidad.
