El producto cruzado â × ́b de dos vectores se define como un vector que es perpendicular a ambos â y ́b. Su dirección viene dada por la regla de la derecha y su magnitud es igual al área del paralelogramo que abarcan los vectores.
Que â = (a 1, a 2, a 3) T y b = (b 1, a 2, a 3) sean dos vectores en R 3. Entonces, su producto cruzado â × ́b viene dado por
