La fotólisis de N-hidroxipiridina-2-tiona acetilada produce un radical metilo (Esquema 6). 52 Los radicales metilo generados de esta manera reaccionan con nucleósidos que contienen telurio para generar los correspondientes radicales centrados en carbono. 52—56 En la reacción mostrada en el Esquema 6, la formación de radicales a partir de la fotólisis de O-acetil - N-hidroxipiridina-2-tiona es el primer paso para producir un nuevo sistema de anillos. 52
